I've always wondered how Prince was tagged onto the end of the show? It seemed very strange as SNL
had never had 2 musical guests on 1
night.That has never happened since
Early reviews of Prince sometimes made reference to him being musically influenced by TR. I have some recollection of a jab at Todd
on the 25TH anniversary show. There was a suggestion that Prince's performance "blew Todd away"in 81. Clearly the people who could believe that didn't understand they were not trying to do the same THING. Not even close.
The Purple One does seem to often echo Todd rather than the other way
around. I wonder if he has ever
acknowledged TR in print ? "Squze me, while I kiss my 'almost' ANK/
Phallis gee-tar, Oh, Todd changed his name to TR-I...spose I oughta
change my name to something that will ear-a-t8 folks & git lotza media a-10-shunn. ............RR

This was the episode where Charles Rocket drops the f bomb at the end of the show. Prince had already dropped it during his song. This show was during the worst years of SNL and with the two f bombs never replayed. As far as Prince blowing Todd away he was wearing chaps with his bare ass hanging out, how's Todd supposed to compete with that? ;-)

This is exactly THE POINT !
Todd was not doing a bare-assed
funked up 'concept'. Apples/ORANGES
I imagine somepeople could be
"blown away" by a billboard vs.
a Rembrant etching ~ To each his own. TR's body of work speaks for
itself - to open ears/minds - RR
