Todd Rundgren’s Utopia
Live At The Fox 1973
This is so incredible… selfishly because I was there. November 8 1973 (and if you dispute the venue & the date then you are dead wrong).
Todd opens up with just himself (and piano) on stage accompanied with music soundtrack. He goes through his ballads and hits with out flaw and with my first sign of his genius & humor. A intermission… and the BOOM… playing in front of us, in full band ensemble, is Todd Rundgren’s Utopia. I HAVE NOT BEEN THE SAME SINCE.
And that’s what we have here captured professionally. The Todd Rundgren’s Utopia set. The opening song (Utopia Theme) of course was recorded in it’s entirety for the 1974 Utopia premier Release. And the rest is just Heaven. We hear ‘Open My Eyes’ the incredible Nazz tune that was way ahead of it’s time. It’s here in precise sound and performance. ‘Don’t You Ever Learn’ and The Last Ride’ sent Atlantan’s scurrying to find the album in which these songs were on, except it wasn’t released yet! They had me singing ‘SLUT’ all the home from the Concert…and well the rest?
Well you take a listen and tell me what you think. This is absolutely essential! WhooHoo! re-masters it to it’s finest people! Everybody has to has this re-mastered version…. ESSENTIAL
