Rundgren Radio update

In case you haven’t heard the news, the Rundgren Radio online radio program is retired except for special editions shows we may do on occasion. It’s been a fun 4 year ride and we appreciate you listening to the shows and keeping us going. Rundgren Radio completed over 200 shows, had over 100 different guests, presented over 20 Todd Rundgren concerts, and has had over 440,000 downloads. As a subscriber to this email database you will be alerted if we return for any shows which is one reason we are emailing you today :-).

On Tuesday, October 25th, we will be back for a special edition show to discuss the upcoming Todd Rundgren’s Utopia tour with our special guest Moogy Klingman. He requested another chance to reach out to our listeners before the reunion tour and of course we were happy to accommodate. The show will start at 8:30pm and listeners are welcome to call in and speak to Moogy.

Speaking of the TR’s Utopia reunion tour, just because the RR radio show is retired doesn’t mean the concert promotion side of RR is finished :-). We will be presenting one of the twelve TR’s Utopia concerts this November. The concert will be on November 12 in Akron, OH at the Akron Civic Theatre beginning at 8pm ET.

The night before the concert we will be hosting a fan party featuring a Todd Rundgren / Utopia tribute band, the Hermits of Mink Halloween Mark II, at the Ramada Plaza’s 19th floor ballroom overlooking downtown Akron. As an added bonus, Todd’s long time tour manager and member of his A Cappella tour ensemble, Mary Lou Arnold, will be singing background with the Hermits when they perform the song “Something To Fall Back On”! Tickets are only $12 advance and $15 at the door. It would be very helpful if attendees buy in advance so we can properly prepare for the right amount of people. The party not only includes the entertainment but an event laminate, cake, DJ for band breaks, and appetizers. There will also be a cash bar available for the thirsty people. The event weekend has been affectionately dubbed, “IKRON”. Tickets are available here …

We are not aware of any plans for more shows so this tour may be it. In our opinion, the possibility of future TR’s Utopia concerts depends on the success of these 12 shows and how Moogy feels health-wise after the tour. We are well aware fans from the west coast, Chicago, UK, etc. want a TR’s Utopia concert but we aren’t in charge of the routing :-).

Our concert promotion company for non-Todd shows, Onward Promotions, will be presenting the first ever double bill concert featuring Utopian Kasim Sulton and Eliot Lewis on 10/16/2011, which is this Sunday! You all know who Kasim is of course. Eliot is the keyboardist for Hall & Oates and you have probably seen him on the Live From Daryl’s House shows with Todd as the guest. The show will be in the Long Island area in Bellmore, NY at the Brokerage Comedy Club. Tickets ($25) will be available at the Brokerage or you can get them up on our ticket site until sometime tonight at:

https://rundgrenradio.tix.com.

On Saturday, 10/22/2011 we will be presenting another Kasim Sulton concert but this one will be Rob Fetters who many of you may remember from the Psychodots if you attended the Todd+Healing album show in Toledo, OH. Rob is an excellent and very well respected guitarist and was also a founding member of The Bears (with Adrian Belew). The concert will be held in Cleveland’s #1 venue, Winchester’s Music Hall! You can get tickets by calling the venue at 216-226-5681.

Here’s some cool Todd news --- Five new Todd/Utopia packages available from the Edsel Label (part of Demon Music Group:

http://www.demonmusicgroup.co.uk/home)!

· “Runt” (two versions) + “Ballad Of”

· “Something/Anything?”

· “A Wizard, A True Star” + “Todd”

· “Initiation” + “Faithful”

· “Ra” + Oops! Wrong Planet”

These are all 2-on-2 packages, with the exception of “Something/Anything?”.

As bonus tracks they have added tracks from the 1998 JVC Japan-only release “Somewhere/Anywhere”.

“Runt” also includes all the different versions that were on the November 1970 mis-pressing of the album, featuring of course “Say No More” and the full version of “Baby Let’s Swing”.

All the booklet notes have excerpts by Paul Myers from his excellent book “Todd Rundgren In The Studio” as well as some liners notes he put together. They only have the Bearsville rights for Europe, so these re-issues will probably not appear on North American internet retailer sites, but they can be found on the UK sites i.e. Amazon.co.uk.
