Not sure how many characters I have but via Google translate:

Hawaii, Oslo

Hit singles, bomb threats and psychedelic awakening. Pioneer Todd Rundgren has visited mostly on their journey through the history of rock. Together with Norwegian Hans-Peter Lindstrøm and Emil Nikolaisen he has created what he calls "the beginning and end of all music."

Todd Rundgrens house has no outer wall. Running toward his residence on Kauai - the most paradisiacal of all the Hawaiian Islands - reveals an exuberance that has something almost prehistoric over themselves: You expect to see dinosaurs come bounding. Over bridges and rivers, into the small valley, surrounded to constantly this would, desperate growth. Like trees, vines, gnavler into each other, fighting for space, intertwined as greedy arms and legs in a single huge orgy.

And then: a moderate side road to the left. It is known here that he held, one of pop history major pioneers, originals and cult figures.

He is not alone. Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg - one of those others who have moved little on the world - has just bought a neighboring plot. Actress Julia Roberts owns another equally touched hewn.

"A single mailbox with numbers showing the way. A few meters dirt road, no fences, little lumber at an outbuilding, a Toyota Prius, a tall Arab doors.

Once inside the house - or should we say there - it manifests itself: There are soaring ceilings, family room lacks both windows and wall. A karpedam share kitchen and lounge section in half, ending in an "infinity pool", then a hillside before the Pacific Ocean and its endless nautical mil constitute living room wall. There is a whole oceans to the next ceilings.

Todd Rundgren smiles. He has been making music history. Today he makes chili con carne from box in the open kitchen.

- We should fix some sort of big drop down to protect us from rain storms, typhoons and such, she contacted only on Hawaii as this could, gave her a whole bunch of money. Since we have not seen hide nor hair of the lady! he laughs.

I saw the light

That 66-year-old - of all - do not care about having an outer wall, is not only very un-American, but perhaps also characteristic of his entire life philosophy. Open mind, gaze out.

Moreover, it is a strange choice: A long time ago, a very different place, was Rundgren awakened with a gun to his head. Robbers whistled on his hit single "I Saw The Light", threatened to cut off his fingers if he did not "showed them where the cocaine was." They did not know his victim, should have gone for some hallucinogens instead.

Burglars were not the first to look for the musician. Rundgren has always had stalkers. Some have even moved him to Kauai. That is what happens when you make music that touches the human condition. When John Lennon's killer, Mark David Chapman, fired the fatal shots in Manhattan in 1980, he only hours earlier have been north of the State of New York, at Rundgrens housing - with unclear motives, cloudy in the wonderful pop music. He was arrested and shot Lennon wearing a Todd Rundgren-neck.

But still, that is:

- Here it is really just walk right in, says the housekeeper.

The two mild sky fallen creatures who sit in Rundgrens living, are not invaders, but two of Norway's internationally more noted musicians.
Wearing bucket hat and modesty: Hans-Peter Lindstrøm (42), artist name Lindstrøm manufacturer for electronic and cosmic disco-antics for several years has sent him around the globe. Alongside, barefoot Emil Nikolaisen (38), known from noise and shoegaze-enterprise of Serena Maneesh - also with a global scope. From very different musical standpoint, they are both devoted Rundgren fans.

"Now the dream is a fact. A week at home visiting his idol. After three years of filsending and Skype calls, the pioneering work completed. A Norwegian sensation, an international generation border førstegangstur: A trio plate is finished, already described by the Guardian as "Condensed, complex, intricate quivering, yet consistently emotional [...] It is album of the year. And the year is 1975 through 2015. "

- This is the music I am most proud to have been involved in in my life, says Lindstrom.

Rundgren shall immediately embarked on a tour with Ringo Starr tangible but will not limit the reason:

- I have characterized "roundel" as the beginning and end of all music.

Be nice to me

Can We Still Be Friends. You guys look like you’re in a rock band.» Han smiler:
 – Ja, det er vi jo også. Et norsk black metal-band!
The truth is that Rundgren has always been nearby when the explosion - yes, he apparently was one of those who came running, lit the fuse. Rundgren has changed pop music:

Early psychedelia, baroque pop, blue-eyed soul, prog rock, synthesizers, electronic noise, theatrical comedy, New York's proto-punk, metal gitarheroisme, music technology, internet.

Renaissance Man Todd Rundgren has been ahead of the ball in the right place. He renamed himself even in a weak nineties moment to "T2000" - dazzled by the imminent cybervirkelighetens opportunities for music.

Multiinstrumentalist willingness movement has for many made him incomprehensible, inedible, and not least unsalable. What happened to pop star, teen poster that was gigantic, "new Beatles", "a male Carole King," "An American Elton John"? Rundgren was tired before he had begun. The person concerned he seemed formulary, was never the plan. In addition to leading his own musical career, he has managed to produce 45 albums for other artists - this is the business that has made him the richest.

- We have enough experienced a kind of community in that we are all manufacturers, says Emil Nikolaisen at turtle pond, tells the surreal to wake up in Hawaii while a pophistorisk icon and role model to a stocked breakfast.

"Parallel lines

Who else found among Rundgrens followers? Patti Smith - he at various times were respectively manufacturer for and boyfriend with - once called his expression "rock'n'roll for the scull." Young Prince, naturally a tender and dedicated "Todd Head" shall be taken to attempt to reach backstage at the concert without success. Musical further used in Cameron Crowe and Sofia Coppola's films. In Bjarne Melgaard's art. Contemporary winning call as Pharrell Williams and Daft Punk are stated fans. Now he also make music with hip-hop group The Roots, touring with samtidsfunksteren Dam Funk.

He feed the dogs, throws himself down on the couch, turn on CNN, laughing at a fixture on the 2015 issue "Drunk droning." A song title, almost.

- Does anyone fancy a beer?

Sunroom bathes in an increasingly pink Kauai-sol. The whole situation is quite a contrast to Emil Nikolaisen's three years hunched in job "roundel":

- Todd is outrageously generous. Seekers. The confidence he has shown!

A heavily built, low-brow and shorts dressed middle-aged man comes chugging. He is certain "security", lives on the plot, mixes vodka martinis, roll a joint for themselves and their employer. Nikolaisen urges:

- One has heard stories about that Todd will be difficult to work with, but it has only been benevolence, all together!

A sip of IPA beer, spesialinnkjøpt of Rundgren to the Norwegian delegation.

- The man is the mystery.

Unloved children

- I was a sickly child. Alone, always alone, says Rundgren over a shared bowl of the Polynesian drink specialty "mai tai."

- Alone in elementary school, in front of high school. I was depressed by everything and everyone was so damned tired of living in such a world that I already eight years old only dreamed of running away, to clear myself.

Born and raised in Philadelphia - later one of America's more soul full cities, famous for its marble and monumental Philly sound - lived young Rundgren in a rather futile postwar settlement. The domestic exposure to art and culture were minimal. His father - a Swedish-Austrian - encouraged perfectly to no music career, on the contrary, but had at least a handful of show- and matinéplater. Rundgren may yet recite entire album sides of Leonard Bernstein.

There were also some contemporary classic in the living room - harmonic Impressionists like Ravel and Debussy. It may have taken their toll. Young Todd could anyway forget to play their discs on the home-built stereo:

- My father was humorless engineer, lived a dull life, was swell sur it says Rundgren.

- It was only later, when I took a digg girl home, I got something resembling respect from him, he continued.

- My parents boasted to me once to Rolling Stone, probably because I never asked for a cent. Fuck them. No ties, no grudges.

As 16-year-old was the boy got lost in jazz, in mysterious early electronic music from Hungary and its environs. But more important: On the radio was the black gold.

- Philadelphia was just so far up in Pennsylvania that was north of the so-called "Mason Dixon Line" that separated state. We did hear soul and r & b radio. South of the border was "race music" - anathema when you thought white youth were wildly horny and aggressive of it.

"Influenza

The Beatles' first foray everything changed. Also for Rundgren. He mentions British surprisingly often - lives has ever crossed tracks.

- Pop were interesting. It was end to simply place a handsome, white cuckoo in front of a microphone, giving him a hit single. One could write yourself.

The person concerned he seemed formulary, was never the plan. In addition to leading his own musical career, he has managed to produce 45 albums for other artists - this is the business that has made him the richest.
Together with the group The nazz so Rundgren against just Beatles, but also against the Whos more energetic galore, interspersed with Beach Boys-inspired harmonies. Can you ask for more?

An early version of the later world hit "Hello It's Me" was recorded, thus also three albums. It could not last. Rundgren discovered the eclectic New York-songwriter Laura Nyro deep whim rich pianoeskapader.

- It was the end of the band, laughing Rundgren.

- For a songwriting! Nyro gave everything!

Inspired he sat down at the piano stool, went solo, hammered three melodic, halvsentimentale pop album, if several of the songs yet stands as stakes in the world songbook. There are chord progressions to meet God, a life partner, or death.

- "The Ballad of Todd Rundgren 'was my first marijuana plate, says the author on another album.

By next recording went there amphetamine preparation Ritalin: Double album 'Something, Anything "was the big break, all three singles on the charts, a subsequent space magazine Rolling Stones list of rock history's best records. But Rundgren had already had enough. He was tired of being compared to Carole King, said he used a set formula for creating songs that he had scraped together hits in 20 minutes, he really only wrote about the same, unsuccessful high school relationship time and again. He had also discovered mescaline, a hallucinogen:

- It changed me, and therefore my music, forever.

Musically it resulted only in the spiritual seekers, yet modern and ecstatic double album "A Wizard, A True Star". The ideas, as well as substanspreferansen was continued at double albums "Todd" and "Initiation" - the latter at the time the longest plate. Head in the clouds.

- Do you have anything negative to say about psychedelics?

- Not one bad word. I have only positive experiences. I became aware of the enormous gap between who we think we are, and who we are. It saved me 20 years in therapy.

- Do you take that kind yet?

- Not often enough, really. It requires a certain infrastructure that is at the Burning Man festival or something.

Rundgren, who never became one of music history's many rusofre, smiles:

- I can not sit here and risking that bredbåndsinstallatøren come in the door.

By Todd Rundgrens own designed house is empty jars soon, hybrid car goes immediately to his wife's local tiki restaurant. The house is a direct result of single plates success:

- I bought the land cheap in the 1980s, after a hurricane virtually obliterated entire Kauai, he says, running up from the beach earlier in the day, the car full of dogs and dog hair.

- In the 1990s, we moved to the island. We had to get my son away from California. He was in trouble. He thought he was gangster, claiming to be part of the same gang that Tupac Shakur.

Son Rex (34) is currently baseball pro at Tulsa Drillers. After several years in sleepy Princeville - apparently a place where rich people settles for playing golf, walk tall with walking sticks and die - could house built. Rundgren sold royalty rights to Meat Loaf "Bat Out of Hell", a record he self-financed and produced. The project would almost be a parody of Bruce Springsteen - who Rundgren general has two children with ex-girlfriend to - but ended up being the fifth best-selling album of all time. For Rundgren has manifested itself in nine bedrooms, a missing exterior wall, one barefoot existence.

- It's luckily totally misplaced in "star maps" of the island, he smiles.

In addition to their own, many blade solo career and his own seeking, progressive band Utopia, has Rundgren produced people like Janis Joplin, The Band, The Sparks, Cheap Thrick, said Patti Smith and punk forerunners in New York Dolls.

He was going in his time also collaborate, writing music with geni- and legend colleague Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys, visited him at home:

- He sat for three seconds at the piano, three seconds, in its built-in sandbox. Flew back and forth. Zero concentration. These were the years when he was lying down, to bed, but suddenly he wanted out, he would on the town!

"Two of the world's major melodikere went on the legendary LA club Troubadour together, Wilson shot in pajamas:

- He stumbled right into the scene, was almost knocked off of the band before they discovered who it was. He started ralle unleashed on "Be Bop a Lula" before any guards came and threw him out.

The world saw other heavenly cooperation. XTCs "Skylarking" (1986), considered by many as one of 1980s finest, most complete album. Rundgren - known for its fairly strict attitude studio - considers it his life's most challenging recordings. When XTC commented process, Rundgren gestaltet of a potato.

- If one is having a good studio or not, does not affect the final product. They believed the disc could not be released. Instead I saved their career.

- Had I suspected that Todd Rundgren was in the house, I'd certainly been piss scared, says Lindstrøm, full of awe towards one of their biggest idols.

Rundgren - who had also been through some black metal stuff - got opened ears further north the man he had just remixed.

Hans-Peter Lindstrøm
Norwegian dj, producer and artist, also known as Lindstrøm.
Born 1973 Stavanger.
Considered as a pioneer within the internationally noted cosmic disco.
Has released several albums and is one of Norway's biggest export goods in electronic music.
Driver label Feedelity.

- It was something where I recognized, something that reminded me of things I did 30 years ago, yet something completely new, something foreign.

Lindstrøm's internationally acclaimed "Six Cups of Rebel" has Rundgren as main inspiration.

- I love that he's crazy enough to just drive on, he does not limit himself. That he does and does everything himself. Beautiful singer-songwriter stuff suddenly replaced by some crazy synth escapades nobody understands or can do for him. It's wonderful. I also think the white man setting the soul is very cool. It's like when Europeans were creating disco - it was much fatter.

The evening ended in a classic, privately Oslo afterparty: Prefab Sprout and UK garage on site. A wrongful eviction of the Swedish band Dungen. Rundgren held throughout the night. On the morning he was to direct the traveling, got packed by actress and hostess Lisa Act Kongsli, last seen in Swedish "Tourist".

"Emil Nikolaisen
Norwegian multi-instrumentalist, producer and artist.
Born in 1977, Moi.
International noted particularly through indie group Serena Maneesh.
Also played in bands such as Loch Ness Mouse, Royal, Silver and extol.
Produced several artists, including Sister Elvira Nikolaisen.

Lindstrøm was not present, but contact was maintained.

When Rundgren was back in Oslo other errands, was Lindstrøm studio neighbor, Emil Nikolaisen, connected on the project. The three completely dissimilar, though cosmic landscaped, musicians should just Tove little in the studio a few days. Instead it was three years and an end result Rundgren describes as "complete deconstruction":

- It is occasionally quite primitive and simple, sometimes so grandiose and honor you feel tiny in the face of it, he says.

- Hans-Peter is the best in the world at this rhythm, mixed with Todds sound understanding, textural ... says Nikolaisen dreamy.

- ... We wanted it to be a chord cycle, a "round dance" suddenly Todd reaching a hit!

The song should be delisted. The three emphasizes that it is a perfect trio plate. Balanced and equal. They have changed little on roles along the way. It is not given to the listener who has done what.

- It has been more than just a good working relationship. We have really met at a higher plane, in a spiritual quest. It is to such a degree in music we have met, that it almost becomes a bit strange, physically, to sit here in Hawaii and staring, laughing Nikolaisen.
The verb to love

On the way to the spouse Michele popular restaurant and bar Tiki Iniki, he has a personal anecdote about all songs and artists on the car radio, sitting suddenly humming a new different voice to Midnight Oil's "Beds Are Burning". There are flare lamp. He asks this security guy calm down a bit, talk to ever vote in car.

Kona running, she was female choir in Todds backing band, the two had a longstanding secret relationship. She's the type to put on polkadots, blue wig, a faux bird's nest in her hair.

- Michele is exhibitionist. She started really the bar to have a place to act themselves, laughing Rundgren, believes a photo of the two together is the main D2 can take, tells of the time a female stalker standing at the door with local movers, should take over the house and him even.

Michele is perhaps his first wife, but she is far from the first woman in his life.

"One thing is this ex to Springsteen, Rundgren had for years also an on and off relationship with the planet's most famous groupie Bebe Buell - immortalized by Kate Hudson in 00-century classic "Almost Famous." In addition to men as Mick Jagger, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Elvis Costello and Jimmy Page, slid Buell giving Todd Rundgren a daughter, said Hollywood star Liv Tyler. Barnet vs. remarkable on Aerosmith's Steven Tyler, but was first dubbed Liv Rundgren, raised by Todd as his own. Buell should have stated Rundgren as a father to protect the girl against Tyler's drug abuse. Rundgren went into temporary assignment with skin and hair. Nine-year-old got Liv know about their biological parents. She looks certain yet on Rundgren as a father.

Bebe Buell has used words like "Bugs Bunny", but also "the perfect combination of guitar hero, singer-songwriter and rock star" of Rundgren.

He grins over martinis, appetizers and photo seekers honeymooners at the restaurant.

- I am, in principle, disagree with everything that man utters.

Liars

It's Grammys last year. The couple Rundgren is invited by Daft Punk to witness their starring performance by Pharrell Williams collaboration "Get Lucky".

First, they are placed at daft Punks table. The whole thing is a little more stately. But some votes certainly not. They must stand up, be placed somewhere else. But hey, this was certain Madonnas table, back up! The sickening feeling of having no place to sit down, that one's presence never quite was part of the plan. But there are at least Daft Punk and waving. They are known in conversation with Paul McCartney. Rundgren going away to thank. McCartney's security guards will it differently, pushes around and pushing rock veteran away as if he was a random, intrusive, potentially dangerous fan.

- Anyone who knows Paul McCartney bit, know that he's a dork, says Todd Rundgren.

- He stood and looked at it all, shrugged, pretending he did not know who I was. I know well that he does. I play the even the band with Ringo!

"In case McCartney is also some cross dame stories but Rundgren claim this possibly be decisive. As a newly established young rocker with The nazz he met in his time photographer who would be Linda McCartney:

- She had a little daughter, a cramped apartment, the only thing she could make the food was fried chicken. She took pictures of me in Central Park. One day she told me she was going to London to photograph a famous band. Since I saw her no more ...

McCartney is not the first from the Beatles Rundgren has snapped unclear. There was a dispute with George Harrison on any producer rights to the doom band Badfinger sentenced. In the 1970s, had also Rundgren and John Lennon an extended public debate in music newspaper Melody Maker.

- I shat out his "revolution" project. Mane of peace and harmony while stony and drunk harasses waitresses at Troubadour, stuff like that ... I thought it was trite. He responded by suggesting that I had "daddy issues", smiles Rundgren, who also managed to be renamed "Turd Runt Green" by peace activist.

- It ended with Lennon called me, asked us to drop whole thing. The only thing we did was to help Melody Maker sell more newspapers.

It could have been a cute story, but the relationship had an aftertaste. Mark David Chapman, Lennon's killer, was not only the Todd Rundgren-neck, but bar also had two things on murder day: JD Salingers roma classic "The Catcher in the Rye" and the album "The Ballad of Todd Rundgren." A chapter in Chapmans autobiography called simply "Todd and God."

- The only Beatle I have not been in trouble with is Ringo.

Rundgren has been a part of Ringo Starr's top heavy All-Starr Band for years.

- Ringo is a lovely guy. Kind and nimble. But he has a strange relationship with things by being so familiar. There may be five people outside the bus, and he storms through them as if they were 500!

Ringo's band has some winter nights on the butt.

- In the beginning it was really crazy. All had either crossed eyes, or were newly converted Alcoholics Anonymous.

Rundgren smiles of a memory. He stands in his hotel room in Gothenburg around 1990, seeing this whole gang tottered out on the street, looking for an AA meeting, Ringo in front:

- Then it is easy to keep on anonymity ..., laughing Rundgren:

- ... Sitting as alkis in some sleepy gymnasium in Gothenburg, and suddenly comes Ringo and half rock history into a spill!

"Pretending to care

By Rundgrens house on Kauai is the night. Lindstrøm, Nikolaisen and Rundgren has been out, tired, peckish. The host decides to smear together some pasta, finds some wine, throws her in the sauce.

The three losing all little interest - the food keeps a moment to go to Rundgrens five småhunder - but the trio, this improbable Norwegian-American widens dignity, hiver still in somewhat midnight snack.

Next morning's wife Michele Rundgren grim. The wine proves to be among the planet's more exclusive, received by it friend and "Godfather" director Francis Ford Coppola for close to 30 years ago. Flausen works as a picture of Rundgrens music in recent years: Precious drops, boiled into something that is not valued enough, served to the few.

2015 is the year when the wine decanted, given air, praised for its complexity and length.

The chef even takes foreplay with characteristic calm.

- Well, at least it went not to the dogs.

Sorry, missed one paragraph under "Be Nice to Me"

Be nice to me
Todd Rundgren's really not very familiar. Or, he is known for a handful of piano composed hits from the early 1970s, and for having brought film actress and daughter of Aerosmith's Steven Tyler - Liv Tyler - as their own. He is just familiar enough in the US to be a punch line in a TV series, or make a guest appearance on MTV's "Beavis & Butthead".

- Yes, we are the well. A Norwegian black metal band!

I'm pretty sure from my friends who knew her well that Linda Eastman had her eye on either Mick Jagger or Paul McCartney to marry--a big fish--and would openly discuss this in public. She had a few on her radar but TR was not one.

I don't think TR likes McCartney for some other reason, and who knows what it could be. When all the Beatles are gone, the world will be pretty dark.
