Is this an out-take from the Ruddans project?

This is the bonus track on the Japanese release of Global.

It sounds like the theme music from a low budget Japanese anime - Captain Technopolis!
By the way...Hey, from 23rd...I thought you gave the ultimate rebellious definitive goodbye recently...
Back so soon?

At least he plays the freakin' guitar!
It sounds like there's no guitar at all on Global...
The set list for the concert was disappointing - 75-80% of the show is Global and State; the other songs are ones we've seen a million times!
With a DJ and an entire catalog to choose from, you'd think there'd be a few surprises.

Yellow Magic Orchestra is (or was) a Japanese band and Technopolis is a song of theirs from 1979.
Why Todd chose to 're do this is anybody's guess.
I also wasn't very thrilled to see the Global Tour set list.
Once again, Todd's going to be yelling at 50 & 60 year olds TO "DANCE!! GET OFF YOUR ASSES!!!"
Please.
You shouldn't have to be forced to dance, especially if the music doesn't motivate you.
I'm pretty sure that Todd thinks this stuff is wsy better than it actually is.

So far, I like the opener of Global, "Evrybody".
It took a couple listens but it's a catchy, rowdy start to the album.
Overall, after hearing a lot of songs on YouTube, it seems I'll like about the same ratio as State...about 60%...
I miss the days when I loved every song on every new Todd offering!
I can't remember a time where he basically repeated the same formula from one album to the next as he's done here with State and Global.
Why would a genius like Todd need to listen to stuff like Skrillex to get inspiration when HE'S the trailblazer?
The. Kids. Are. Not. Listening. To. Todd.
If the next album is like State and Global...I Quit.

Akira,
my good-bye was to Todd as an important music source in my life. I did not buy Global and will not see the tour. I see this, broadly, as a natural development as one grows older. Rock and roll was never meant for adults and has overstayed its welcome for too many reasons to enumerate here.
Like everyone else, `though, I have morbid curiosity and this - yes - train-wreck of an album and tour holds the attention, if less so than in younger years.

I rarely miss a Todd concert when he comes through Chicago.
I've never made the choice to actually skip a show.
Until now.
The State album and tour underwhelmed me to the point of wondering WTF?
The "disco encores" of I Saw The Light, Can We Still Be Friends, and Hello It's Me were, I'm sorry to say, totally unmistakable...to the point of wanting to leave early! (I didn't).
After seeing the set list, I must say I have no motivation to go.
I truly hope Todd can capture the old magic without "researching" Skrillex!
If he wants to look for inspiration, check out Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, etc...
Where's Utopia when you need 'em?

Dear From 23rd,
I respect your opinion.
I, though, think that since there's so many kinds of rock music to choose from, why not continue to explore what's out there?
I'm wondering if this tour will be entertaining despite the material...
What the heck, I'll check it out.
Just to see if he can pull it off.

In the above message, the word unmistakable should have been UNLISTENABLE. ..
Stupid auto correct! Lol

Akira,
If you missed the State tour, by all means go for the spectacle. The lights were the only saving grace of the State presentation.
If, `though, you saw it two years ago, consider spending the money on weed; then wait three years for his 70th birthday album.

I must have missed the setlist. All I have seen so far in clips is that he's doing 3 songs I never liked that are the trifecta of Below Standard for me: Party Liquor, Angry Bird and Earth Mother. And I'm not an old-timer so it isn't that, and I listen to a LOT of different kinds of music so long as it's good and has something to say but...this isn't pinging for me. I'll wait to see the show but I don't think it will be any experience that is new. I hope people will continue to be honest in their reviews because if a great talent like that is effing up the last thing they need to hear is more yes yes if they live in a bubble. (Besides I don't think it would change what he's doing, he does what he wants.) So being honest is a win-win. Maybe he's just trying to pay the bills and this was the cheapest way to do it. Re-uniting Utopia and writing new material might be a lot more of an undertaking and he can't do it right now.

But this rancid tecnho music isn't paying the bills....the bank sued Todd's ass for defaulting on his 17K a month mortgage. Hopefully he will pull his head out of his ass and reunite Utopia with new music....ditch the putrid techno, ditch the strippers, and ditch the DJ. For someone his age to be jumping up and down on strage to Party Liquor....it is so sad!

Yes it is sad; actually I read his house will be in foreclosure soon and this has been going on for many years and must be exhausting; it can't be easy worrying about all that shit and be forced to create when you can barely think of anything else.)

Also TR has lost a whole support network that was present in Woodstock at the time he was really able to do stuff without worrying about where or if the money was coming in. Different world.
